What do Sun Prairie schools need most? Your vote!

school board 2014

With the spring election just around the corner, the Sun Prairie Action Resource Coalition (SPARC) is hosting a public forum to help you get to know the candidates and where they stand on the issues that matter most to our students and our schools.

All three candidates are confirmed to attend the event, which will be held in the Community Room of the Sun Prairie Public Library (1350 Linnerud Drive) from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 16, 2014.
We are fortunate to have three individuals stepping up to serve our community this year:

  • Carol Albright (retired SPASD educator)
  • Jessica Moehr (currently a Citizen Representative to the school board’s Performance and Operations Committee)
  • Tom Weber (incumbent; current board president)

Sun Prairie Area School District residents will have the opportunity to vote for TWO of these candidates on April 1st.

Diane Martin Liebert, past president of the Madison chapter of the League of Women Voters, will moderate the forum.

The format will follow the usual SPARC forum guidelines: after brief introductions from SPARC and the candidates, the candidates will answer questions prepared in advance by SPARC members, followed by as much Q&A from the audience as time allows.

SPARC members (and other interested in attending) can submit their questions for the candidates in advance to SunPrairieAction@gmail.com by March 7.  A committee of SPARC members will then compile and curate the questions to select the ones that most reflect our shared interests and concerns.

Important note to voters: April 1st falls during Sun Prairie Area School District’s  early votingspring break, so be sure to vote early at City Hall or have an absentee ballot mailed to youif you have travel plans on election day!  You can vote early in person from 8am-4:30pm from March 17 to March 28 (voting closes at 5pm on March 28).  Click here to learn more about absentee voting in Sun Prairie, or for info on receiving an absentee ballot via mail, email or fax.
