With the candidate forum a day away, moderator John Nichols of The Capital Times and The Nation has given SPARC “high marks” for organizing this community event, writing today in The Cap Times:
One of the best parts of the Wisconsin progressive tradition is our state’s commitment to an elected judiciary, which is chosen by the people rather than through the backroom deals that define the bench in so many states. Unfortunately, the election process has been muddled by big money (much of it from out of state) in recent years.
The Sun Prairie Action Resource Coalition is bringing the process back to the grass roots by holding a forum where citizens can hear and question candidates for the state Supreme Court and the Dane County Circuit Court. I’ll moderate the forum, which takes place Feb. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sun Prairie Public Library, 1350 Linnerud Drive.
We couldn’t agree more and hope our forum helps bring political conversations back where they belong: to the people casting the votes! Many thanks to John Nichols for the kind words and for his generosity in moderating the forum. We hope to see you there!
