SPARC announces John Nichols to host Conversation with the Judicial Candidates on Feb. 6 in Sun Prairie

Sun Prairie Action Resource Coalition (SPARC) will host a community forum with candidates for Wisconsin Supreme Court and Dane County Circuit Court on Feb. 6, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Community Room of the Sun Prairie Public Library, 1350 Linnerud, Sun Prairie, WI 53590. The event will be moderated by journalist John Nichols, associate editor for the Capital Times and national political correspondent for The Nation.
Three candidates for Wisconsin Supreme Court face off in a primary on Feb. 19, and the two candidates with the most votes will appear on the April 2, 2013 general election ballot. The race is being hailed as one of the most important judicial elections in Wisconsin history, and SPARC hopes local voters will attend to learn more about those running for office. Attendees will also have opportunity to talk to candidates for Dane County Circuit Court, Branch 16.
Confirmed candidates include Wisconsin Supreme Court candidates Marquette University Law Professor, Attorney Edward Fallone and Attorney Vince Megna, andDane County Circuit Court, Branch 16 candidates Attorney Rhonda Lanford and Judge Rebecca St. John. Incumbent Supreme Court Justice Patricia Roggensack has also been invited.
The event will begin with reflections on the significance of these races by moderator John Nichols of Capital Times, followed by brief introductions from the candidates. The candidates will then answer questions prepared in advance by SPARC, and address questions and concerns by others in the audience.
The event is free and open to the public.
